Despite Brian Kavanagh’s stepping down from the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities’ (IFHA’s) Executive Council, EMHF members retain key positions within global racing’s peak body.
On October 8th, in Paris, EMHF Executive Council member, Henri Pouret, was elected to take over from Brian as our region’s Vice-Chair
and EMHF Secretary-General, Paull Khan, was re-elected to the IFHA Executive Council, both for a three-year term.
Our region commands four of the eleven votes on the IFHA Executive Council, with France, Great Britain and Ireland allocated one vote each, and the EMHF having a further representative of its other, ‘developing’, member countries.
The current composition of the IFHA’s Executive Council is as follows:
Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges (Hong Kong) - Chair
Henri Pouret (France) Vice-Chair
Jim Gagliano (USA) Vice-Chair (2 shared votes with Drew Fleming and Jim Lawson)
Masayuki Goto (Japan) Vice-Chair
Jason Scott (Australia)
Horacio Esposito (OSAF) Vice-Chair (shared vote with Juan Villar Urquiza)
Julie Harrington (Great Britain)
Suzanne Eade/Darragh O’Loughlin (Ireland - shared vote)
Paull Khan (EMHF)
Bruce Sherwin (ARF)
